Electing an HSR

It is important that workers in a work group feel they are represented on any health and safety matters in their workplace.

How do we elect an HSR?

HSRs can only be elected by workers in a particular workgroup. As the HSR represents workers, an employer cannot nominate or appoint them.

Workers can also elect a Deputy HSR.

A workgroup is determined by negotiation and agreement between a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) and workers. You can ask for representation in these negotiations.
