They include the power to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>represent workers in the work group<\/li>\n<li>monitor measures taken to comply with the Work Health and Safety Act<\/li>\n<li>investigate complaints made by workers<\/li>\n<li>inquire into anything that appears to be a risk to the health and safety of workers.<\/li><\/ul>\n<p>HSRs also have certain rights in relation to workplace inspections: they can be present at interviews about health and safety (with the consent of workers); they can request the establishment of a health and safety committee; and are entitled to information about health and safety matters.<\/p>\n<p>In certain circumstances, HSRs can direct work to cease and can issue provisional improvement notices.<\/p>\n<p>They can also request the assistance of any person whenever necessary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.qld.gov.au\/view\/html\/inforce\/current\/act-2011-018#pt.5-div.3-sdiv.1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Requesting an election<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.qld.gov.au\/view\/html\/inforce\/current\/act-2011-018#pt.5-div.3-sdiv.4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Election of HSR<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.qld.gov.au\/view\/html\/inforce\/current\/act-2011-018#pt.5-div.3-sdiv.2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Determining a workgroup<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.qld.gov.au\/view\/html\/inforce\/current\/act-2011-018#pt.5-div.3-sdiv.3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Multiple business work groups<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, you must be trained<\/p>\n<p>The first step in being an effective HSR is to receive the accredited training.<\/p>\n<p>You may have already received it, but if not, the person conducting the business or undertaking (PCBU) must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that you have completed your five-day HSR training within three months of your election.<\/li>\n<li>give you the time off to attend the training and must pay the training fees along with any other reasonable costs associated with attending the training.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You must also be paid what you would\u2019ve normally been paid for any time spent attending the training course.<\/p>\n<p>Additional Information<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.qld.gov.au\/view\/html\/inforce\/current\/act-2011-018#pt.5-div.3-sdiv.6\">Information regarding training obligations in S72 of the Act<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>What obligations does the PCBU have?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The person conducting the business or undertaking (PCBU) has obligationss in relation to HSRs.
